IHSAA Student-Athlete Tip of the Week (11/17/25) "Promoting Education Based Athletics in Indiana" How hard you work, how well you listen and how much you want to learn are all key traits to becoming a successful student-athlete. If you think you already know all there is to know about your sport (or insert any other area), you will likely be closed to the guidance, direction and help from the adults around you. Teachers and coaches usually form opinions of students during the first few times they interact. In other words, first impressions can leave lasting impressions on everyone you come in contact with. During your high school days (and thereafter), you will be surrounded by adults who will likely challenge you to work harder and smarter to reach your potential. Take the time to engage with these adults and listen to them. Their wisdom comes from years of experience mentoring young adults. All content property of Billy Shepherd Sports
