The Michigan City High School Swimming and Diving Team hosted Knox Community High School today in what turned out to be an extremely close and competitive meet. Both teams brought rosters of around ten athletes, making this matchup evenly balanced and exciting from start to finish. The boys team came away with a narrow victory, winning by just a few points, while the girls team fell short by only 12 points. With teams this small, every race mattered, and both groups stepped up throughout the meet. Relay events played a major role in the outcome. The MCHS boys earned first place in both the 200 yard medley relay and the 400 yard freestyle relay. On the girls side, Michigan City took second in the 200 yard medley relay and secured first place in the 200 yard freestyle relay. Outside of relays, Michigan City had a strong showing with multiple first-place finishes: • Jayce Swindell had a standout meet, taking first place in all of his events. He swam on both winning boys relays and also earned individual victories in the 50 yard freestyle and the 100 yard breaststroke. • Emma Kempf continued to lead the girls team with two individual wins, earning first place in both the 100 yard butterfly and the 100 yard backstroke. • Sam Miltenberger brought home another first-place finish for Michigan City in the 100 yard freestyle. The diving team also delivered an impressive sweep: • Isabella Serrano took first place with a score of 109.05. • Michael Hoppe earned first place for the boys with a score of 188.35. • Zacharias Williams finished second with a score of 115.45. With strong relay performances and multiple first-place swims MCHS Swimming and Diving is continuing to improve and are prepared for our next Meet that will be hosted by Portage High School December 16th, at 5:30.
