Varsity vs Wheeler High School Michigan City had an excellent night in the pool at Wheeler High School. The Wolves put together a meet full of strong swims, personal bests, and true team effort. The girls came out confident and ready from the very first event. It was exciting to watch how hard they had been working and feel how special this sport is at times like this. Emma Kempf came out of the gates flying and had a truly fantastic meet for the Wolves. Emma started strong in the 200 IM, taking the race to first place. She followed that up with another first place performance in the 100 butterfly. Emma added a personal best of 1: 16.89 in the fly, a well-deserved reward for her consistency. Audrey Hardacker made some big impacts in the sprints, racing with confidence against Wheeler’s top swimmers. Audrey finished third in the 50 freestyle, but it was her 100 freestyle swim that shined the brightest. She pushed the pace, touched first, and posted a personal best time of 1:11.48. A thrilling swim and a great example of racing with belief. Olivia Swistek was able to bring some steady, dependable swims to the meet and play a big role for Michigan City. Olivia finished fourth in both the 50 freestyle and the 100 butterfly, giving it her all in each race. The determination and willingness to step up that Olivia showed when her number was called made a big difference. In the longer and stroke events, Maddy Parry brought some huge swims for the Wolves. Maddy swam a 2nd place finish in the 500 freestyle, with strong pacing and great endurance. She later came back to win the 100 breaststroke, an impressive showing in two very different events. The 200 freestyle relay was one of the highlights of the night. Audrey, Emma, Olivia, and Maddy put together a 1st place effort full of energy, clean exchanges, and good team chemistry. The relay was truly a perfect showcase of the Wolves as a team. Finishing off the meet, Batoul Achy had a truly great swim in the 100 backstroke. Batoul finished in 3rd and had a personal best time of 1:29.48. The improvement and confidence she has gained were wonderful to see, and something the entire roster has been improving on. The meet against Wheeler High School was something to be proud of – a night of growth, effort, and teamwork from the Michigan City Wolves.
