The boys approached each race with confidence and enthusiasm, from the first relay of the meet to the final individual events. Their positivity and teamwork were felt all night long, and they were all there to race and cheer each other on. The Wolves opened up their meet in a thrilling way, racing to a first-place finish in the 200 medley relay with a time of 2:06.72. That early performance set the tone for the rest of the night, and provided the team with a big confidence boost. Mason Perry had an eventful night, including swimming the 200 freestyle for the first time in his career and placing third. Mason also swam a great 50 freestyle to place fifth, and contributed heavily to the relay events. Mason’s flexibility and desire to race multiple events provided a great spark for the team. Jayce Swindell was involved in one of the most dominant displays of the night, as he took first place in the 200 IM with a time of 2:28.42. Jayce’s race was one of the most dominant of the night, as he won by more than 30 seconds. Following that strong performance, Jayce had another big swim in the 500 freestyle. Jayce showed his strength in these areas, as he touched first with a time of 5: 53.94, winning the race by nearly 50 seconds. Sam Miltenberger led the team in the sprint events, having a strong night all around. Sam took first place in the 50 freestyle with a fast time of 24.70, and the event was swum very well by the team with Zian Moolenaar and Mason Perry also swimming the event and finishing sixth and fifth respectively. Sam later took another first place, as he touched first in the 100 backstroke. Jaren Swindell had an absolutely powerful swim in the 100 butterfly. Jaren swam to first place with a fantastic time of 1:00.58. Jaren had another excellent race in the 100 breaststroke. He registered a high school personal best time in this race with a 1:14.21, an exciting sign of his development. The night was concluded with the 200 freestyle relay, where Sam, Jaren, Mason, and Jayce swam a first-place time of 1:51.84. The energy of the race, their smooth handoffs, and the fast finishes at the end of each leg were the perfect representation of the team atmosphere of the Wolves. Overall, the meet against Wheeler High School was a thrilling and rewarding night for the Michigan City Wolves boys — one full of confidence, improvement, and pride in all of their hard work.
