IHSAA Student-Athlete Tip of the Week (4/27/26) "Promoting Education Based Athletics in Indiana" The more I watch team sports, the more I become certain of the importance of team chemistry. Sure, talented teams are hard to beat, but the teams that work together on every play can and will usually overcome a more talented team to win. If you play a team sport, you know whether the chemistry of the team is great, good or fair. Others notice it as well. The play is unified, unselfish and exciting to watch. Team chemistry will be tested in tough situations. It may be after a loss, a poor performance by one or more athletes, or some unforeseen circumstance. If you want to build the chemistry on your team, lead by talking about playing unselfishly. Hold others accountable to play the same way with the same vision and goal. Spend some time together off the playing court or field and get to know each other outside the sport. Some teams naturally have good chemistry, but all teams can work to make theirs better!
