Wolves Edge La Lumiere 3-2 on Teacher Appreciation Night The Michigan City Wolves boys tennis team earned a hard-fought 3-2 victory over La Lumiere yesterday afternoon, showcasing depth in doubles and strong play in the middle of the lineup. The match also doubled as Teacher Appreciation Night, where players celebrated the educators who support them both on and off the court. At No. 1 singles, Riley Emshwiller-Sowards battled against tough competition before falling 6-2, 6-3. Jacob Hazel answered back with a steady performance at No. 2 singles, grinding out a 6-2, 6-4 win. At No. 3 singles, Carson Groszek fought hard in a competitive match before dropping a 6-2, 6-3 decision. The doubles teams once again proved to be the Wolves’ anchor. At No. 1 doubles, Thomas Chatfield and Nic Williams rolled to a 6-3, 6-0 victory, improving their outstanding season record to 10-1. At No. 2 doubles, Zach Williams and Eli Green were flawless, not dropping a single game in a dominant 6-0, 6-0 win. In JV play, Aeden Phillips and Jaren Phillips pulled out a thrilling win at No. 1 doubles, closing their match with an 8-7 victory in a tiebreak. Additional match play included Trenton Vittatoe (6-0 loss), Joey Stinchcomb (6-0 loss), and Finn Hendricks (4-0 loss). The Wolves not only celebrated a team win but also recognized their teachers, thanking them for the hard work they do during the school day that makes it possible for student-athletes to thrive both academically and athletically. Michigan City (now 6-2 overall) returns to DAC play today, hosting Chesterton in their third conference match of the season at 4:15 p.m. (More pictures are provided on the websites photo gallery)
