The Michigan City Wolves boys tennis team battled yesterday afternoon against a strong Chesterton lineup, ultimately falling 5-0 in their third Duneland Athletic Conference match of the season. The Trojans, one of the top programs in the area, proved to be a tough challenge across all positions, but the Wolves continued to compete with grit and determination. In singles play, Riley Emshwiller-Sowards, Jacob Hazel, and Carson Groszek each faced talented Chesterton opponents and showed resilience in extended rallies but fell short across all 3 singles positions. At No. 1 doubles, the duo of Thomas Chatfield and Nic Williams played with energy and intensity, keeping the opening set tight with aggressive net play and strong teamwork before falling 6-3, 6-0. At No. 2 doubles, Eli Green and Zach Williams also battled in a competitive first set, showcasing their steady improvement as a team before coming up short 6-4, 6-0. On the junior varsity side, Finn Hendricks, Aeden Phillips and Jaren Swindell, and Joey Stinchcomb and Trenton Vittatoe gained valuable match experience against a deep Chesterton lineup, continuing their growth for future opportunities. With the match behind them, the Wolves (6-3 overall, 1-2 DAC) now shift focus to their next big test, hitting the road to take on Valparaiso in another key conference showdown.
