The Michigan City Wolves traveled to Valparaiso on Tuesday for another Duneland Athletic Conference test, ultimately falling 4-1 to the Vikings. In singles play, Riley Emshwiller-Sowards dropped a 6-1, 6-0 decision at the top spot, while Jacob Hazel fell 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 singles. Jaren Swindell, making his varsity singles start, fought hard at No. 3 singles before coming up short. At No. 1 doubles, juniors Thomas Chatfield and Nic Williams once again shined, grinding out a 7-5, 6-3 win to push their season record to 11-2. Their ability to stay composed in pressure moments secured the Wolves’ lone varsity point of the afternoon. Eli Green and Zach Williams battled in a competitive first set before Valparaiso took control, 6-4, 6-0. On the junior varsity side, Valpo topped Carson Groszek 6-0 at No. 1 singles, while the duos of Aeden Phillips and Trenton Vittatoe (6-0) and Joey Stinchcomb and Finn Hendricks (6-0) also fell in doubles play.
