Wolves Tennis Sweep Merrillville for Ninth Win of the Season

The Michigan City Wolves earned a dominant victory yesterday, sweeping Merrillville 5-0 in Duneland Athletic Conference play. The win improves the Wolves’ season record to 9-5 overall. At No. 1 singles, Riley Emshwiller-Sowards was in complete control, rolling to a 6-0, 6-0 victory. At No. 2 singles, Jacob Hazel battled through long rallies before pulling away for a 6-4, 6-2 win. At No. 3 singles, Jaren Swindell delivered one of the highlights of the day, rallying back after dropping the first set to claim a hard-fought 4-6, 6-4, 10-8 victory in a third-set tiebreak. In doubles, the Wolves’ pairs once again proved reliable. At No. 1 doubles, Thomas Chatfield and Nic Williams continued their strong season with a 6-2, 6-1. At No. 2 doubles, Eli Green and Zach Williams turned in a sharp performance, securing a 6-1, 6-2 victory to complete the sweep.
